2017 FSFAPA Conference: The Real Deal: Helping Foster/Adoptive Parents Understand the Child Welfare System from the Inside Out

Carol Campbell Edwards, MSW LCSW - IV-E Program Director, Assistant Teaching Professor

June 17, 2017

Training Description

During this session we will explore what foster parents “really” need to know about child welfare and how decisions are made. Foster parents are asked to champion the needs of children and the system, that in spite of obvious strengths, there are tremendous challenges. We’ll explore what mutual respect and partnership needs to look like and the actions the child welfare system can take to support caregivers. We will engage in “real talk” during this session to empower caregivers to keep advocating for change!
