Sue Badeau, Adoptive Parent and Author

January 26, 2018

Training Description

Susan Badeau (Sue) writes and speaks extensively on topics related to children, particularly those with special needs and is a frequent and passionate keynote speaker. Sue and her husband, Hector, have adopted twenty children and have fostered over 50 children in three states. In this presentation, Sue helps viewers connect with teens to understand what is important to them, as they are trying to navigate their feelings about themselves and being in out-of-home care. She discusses child development and specifically how important the adolescent years of development are and how the teen brain develops. She stresses the importance of the feelings of the youth when you talk to them and not just the words you use. Youth have a need for independence and yet belonging that is important in communicating with them about their future.
