2020 Youth Empowerment Virtual Conference: Voices of the Commonwealth

Tamara Vest - Head Chair, VOC - Voices of the Commonwealth

June 20, 2020

Training Description

The Voices of the Commonwealth (VOC) is a team of current and former foster youth advocating for the betterment of children and families involved in the child welfare system. Their lived experience makes them experts on the unique issues youth in care face. They have been instrumental in changing multiple policies and laws to better serve this population across the state of Kentucky. Another important part of their job is recruitment of foster/adoptive parents for teens, educating child welfare staff, and serving on multiple work groups alongside State and National officials. The team members are employed by Murray State University as part of a grant program contracted with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
