Training Description

Effective January 1, 2014, the Florida Legislature passed the "Nancy C. Detert Common Sense and Compassion Independent Living Act." This act created the Extended Foster Care (EFC) program in s. 39.6251, F.S., and redesigned the Independent Living program in s. 409.1451, F.S. This workshop will discuss the changes to the EFC program to enable the state to claim Title IV-E matching funds for the existing program. Finally, this workshop will provide an overview of Florida's expansion of Maintenance Adoption Subsidies (MAS) for children adopted at age 16 and 17 until age 21.
